Fortune 500 in 2016: The State Grid ranked second, and Apple made the most money.

  According to Fortune Chinese website, on the evening of July 20th, 2016, Beijing time released the latest Fortune Global 500 list.

  Wal-Mart ranked first for three consecutive years. In 2015, its operating income reached US$ 482.1 billion, a slight decrease of 0.7% year-on-year. There are three China companies in the top five. The operating income of major oil companies has fallen sharply due to the sharp drop in oil prices, which has made the State Grid rank second, although its operating income has also dropped by 2.9%. PetroChina and Sinopec followed closely, ranking third and fourth respectively. Apple entered the top 10 for the first time, ranking ninth. In 2015, its operating income rose by 27.9%, making it the only company in the top 10 that achieved positive revenue growth.

  The number of listed companies in China continues to grow, reaching 110 this year. Thirteen mainland companies in China made the list for the first time, including JD.COM, an e-commerce company, Midea Group, a home appliance giant, and three major real estate companies: Vanke, Dalian Wanda and Evergrande.

  Fortune Global 500 list is published once a year by Fortune magazine. This year, the total operating income of the top 500 companies was US$ 27.6 trillion, and the total net profit was US$ 1.48 trillion, down 11.5% and 11.3% respectively. The entry threshold was $20.92 billion, down 11.8% from last year’s $23.72 billion. Last year’s list of the last operating income can be ranked 449th this year.

  The most profitable company

  Apple surpassed ICBC with a profit of $53.4 billion and returned to the top of the profit list. The four major banks of "Industrial Construction and Agricultural Development" only followed, ranking 2-5.

  The company with the most losses

  Mexican oil company lost $440 last year, ranking first in the world’s top 500 loss list.

  Among the listed enterprises in China, China Minmetals Corporation suffered the most losses, with US$ 16.8 billion, ranking 22nd in the loss list.

  There are 110 companies on the list in China.

  After reaching 106 companies last year, the number of listed companies continued to grow to 110 this year. The gap between China and the United States in the number of companies listed in the world’s top 500 continues to narrow.

  There are 110 enterprises in China listed this year, including 7 enterprises in Taiwan Province. State Grid, PetroChina and Sinopec rank 2-4 respectively. There are 13 new and re-listed enterprises in China, among which Vanke, Dalian Wanda, Evergrande and other well-known real estate companies, e-commerce company JD.COM and household appliance giant Midea Group are all listed for the first time.

  Companies with the most rankings up and down

  The ranking of ZF in Germany jumped 168 places over the previous year, which was the biggest increase.

  COFCO, China Huaxin Energy Company, HNA Group and China Everbright Group all rose by more than 100 places, ranking among the best in the list of increases.

  The fastest decline in the ranking was Plains GP Holdings, which fell by 211 places.

  China Aviation Oil Corporation, Taiwan CNPC and China Minmetals Corporation all dropped by more than 100 places, while Shougang Group dropped by 87 places, all of which were on the decline list.

  Industry distribution of listed companies

  In the sub-list of the world’s top 500 industries in 2016, it can be seen that the banking industry ranks first, with 53 companies on the list, and the vehicle and parts industries and refining industries rank second and third, with 34 and 32 companies on the list respectively.

  New and re-listed companies

  This year, 33 companies were listed for the first time or re-listed, and China companies accounted for more than one third.
