Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Brake Configuration Exposes Competition-level Carbon Ceramic Brake Disc Debut

The production version of Xiaomi SU7Ultra will be officially released tomorrow night. Today, the official continued to announce the technical details of the car. Lei Jun shared a photo of an oversize carbon ceramic brake disc in Weibo, and pointed out that this brake disc is the largest in diameter in sports car brake disc at present.

According to the picture information, the maximum temperature of the carbon ceramic brake disc is over 1300℃, and the size of the front brake disc is 430mmx40mm, and the size of the rear brake disc is 410mmx32mm. This material is usually used in high-performance sports cars and racing cars, and has the advantages of high temperature resistance, light weight, strong durability and excellent braking performance.

Carbon ceramic brake discs can withstand extremely high temperatures, and even when braking at high intensity, there will be no thermal attenuation caused by overheating, which makes them more stable under track driving and high load. In addition, the brake disc is lighter than the traditional cast iron brake disc by more than 50%, which helps to reduce unsprung weight and improve vehicle handling. Its wear is very little, its service life is usually 3-5 times that of ordinary steel brake discs, and it is suitable for long-term high-performance use.

Although carbon ceramic brake disc has many advantages, it also has some limitations, such as high cost, complicated manufacturing process and expensive materials. In low temperature environment, the performance of carbon ceramic brake may not be as good as that of traditional steel disc, and the best effect can be achieved only after proper temperature rise.

By installing large-size carbon ceramic brake discs, the track performance of Xiaomi SU7Ultra production version will be greatly improved, avoiding the problem that the ordinary version of Xiaomi SU7 was out of control due to overheating of the brakes.
