The reporter learned from the smart car networking platform of the State Grid that in the first three days of the "May 1" period, the charging amount of new energy vehicles in China increased by more than 60% compared with the same period in 2023. In order to ensure the travel of new energy owners, many power departments across the country made every effort to improve the charging service capacity.
In Beijing, during the May Day holiday, the electric power department arranged more than 150 operation and maintenance personnel to provide all-weather operation and maintenance support for 113 key charging stations such as high-speed service areas, and set up "recommended charging stations around" guiding signs in 22 expressway service areas to guide car owners to avoid charging during peak hours.
In the Quanjiao service area of Shanghai-Shaanxi Expressway, Anhui electric power department coordinated the high-speed department to open the two-way culvert according to the tidal characteristics of the peak of travel and return, and guided the vehicles to charge in the opposite service area to realize effective diversion.
In the Meixian service area of Lianhuo Expressway, during the holidays, the charging peak is ushered in here, and the local power employees send special personnel to maintain the charging facilities. While ensuring the normal operation of their own charging piles, they also provide power protection for the charging facilities of third-party operators.
According to the thermal judgment of holiday charging of intelligent transportation supervision platform, China Southern Power Grid has arranged 14 mobile supplementary trams in several high-speed service areas such as Dahuai in Neijiangmen and Yayao in Heshan, Guangdong Province, so as to flexibly carry out mobile supplementary power services.
At the same time, many places in the country have also increased the charging guarantee of scenic spots. In the West Coast New District of Qingdao, Shandong Province, local power workers are on duty 24 hours a day, and the inspection of charging piles around scenic spots such as Golden Beach and Silver Beach is intensified to ensure that each charging pile can run reliably.
In the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Scenic Area of Qin Shihuang, the traffic volume of charging stations here is 1.8 times that of normal times during peak hours. The local power department has made use of power big data to co-ordinate five charging stations within 10 kilometers, and opened charging piles in power supply stations under its jurisdiction, providing guidance services according to the traffic, and minimizing the time for tourists to find charging stations and wait for charging piles.

In order to make citizens and tourists travel with peace of mind, the local power supply department conducted a comprehensive inspection and maintenance of the electric equipment in Tangqi Ancient Town Scenic Area and its surrounding areas in advance, and at the same time, organized personnel to carry out the "May 1" special inspection of the charging piles in the jurisdiction to ensure the normal charging of new energy vehicles.
